Where can I find more resources?

As creators and filmmakers, we love working with partners to inspire change. To learn more about school lunch reform and the people who are making it happen, here are resources -- with toolkits, information and knowledge – to help you along the way.

Model Programs

The School Lunch Initiative was created in 2004 to connect formal academic subjects with experiential learning in instructional gardens, kitchen classrooms, and school classrooms. It was formed as a public-private partnership among:

The Berkeley Unified School District
The mission of the Berkeley Unified School District, a diverse community deeply committed to public education, is to ensure that all students discover and develop their special talents, achieve their educational and career goals, become lifelong learners, and succeed in a rapidly changing society.

The Center for Ecoliteracy
The Center for Ecoliteracy, a leader in the green schools movement, has worked with schools and organizations in more than 400 communities during the past 15 years. Best known for its work with school gardens, lunches, and integrating sustainability into the curricula, the Center also offers books, teaching guides, professional development seminars, a sustainability leadership academy, and consulting services.

The Edible Schoolyard Project
When Alice Waters opened the doors of her restaurant, Chez Panisse, 40 years ago, she never imagined that the simple idea of feeding friends "reel food" would help spark a revolution. Recognizing the transformative power of food, she established The Chez Panisse Foundation in 1995 to launch the Edible Schoolyard in Berkeley, California. This year, the Chez Panisse Foudation becomes the Edible Schoolyard Project, with the mission to transform the health and values of every student by building and sharing a food curriculum for the school system.
